Kinstellar Southeast Asia is delighted to announce the appointment of Phan Vinh Nhan and Thao Cung as Partners, based in its Vietnam office. The addition of Nhan and Thao increases the number of the firm’s Vietnam-based Partner to five, reflecting the continued regional expansion of Kinstellar Southeast Asia, as well as deepening and strengthening its team.
Nhan brings nearly 20 years of experience advising clients on a broad range of complex transactional and corporate matters in Vietnam. Nhan is highly regarded for his expertise in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, banking and finance, capital markets, and general corporate matters. Prior to joining Kinstellar Southeast Asia, Nhan held partnership positions at regional and Vietnamese law firms. Nhan holds an LL.B. from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley, and is admitted to the Ho Chi Minh City Bar.
Thao joins Kinstellar Southeast Asia after 17 years as General Counsel of VinaCapital, Vietnam's largest and most prominent diversified investment management firm. Thao’s practice spans private equity, funds, mergers & acquisitions, banking & finance, corporate governance, and general corporate matters. Thao brings with him exceptional experience in handling complex transactions across a wide array of industry sectors in Vietnam, including the depth of commercial and practical knowledge which can only be gained from years of General Counsel experience with an industry leader like VinaCapital. Earlier in his career, Thao worked in private practice law in Vietnam, Hong Kong, and the United States. Thao is admitted to the California Bar and holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and an M.B.A. from the University of Hawaii – Shidler College of Business.
