Thao Cung

Thao is a Partner at Kinstellar Southeast Asia with more than 30 years of legal experience across international law firms and in-house legal departments, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate and commercial matters, banking and finance, joint ventures, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Kinstellar Southeast Asia, Thao served as General Counsel of VinaCapital for 17 years, managing a legal department of 10 attorneys and a corporate secretary and providing legal support across VinaCapital's investment platforms, including London Stock Exchange-listed funds, a UCITS fund, Vietnam mutual funds and joint venture/club deal structures. His experience spans private equity investments, investment transactions, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, commercial contracting, employment matters, arbitration and litigation, giving him a practical, commercially focused perspective drawn from both private practice and in-house roles.

Earlier in his career, Thao advised on banking transactions, acquisitions of Vietnamese banks, foreign investment projects, joint ventures, investment funds, infrastructure projects and M&A transactions while practising at regional and international law firms in Vietnam.
